For some people dry skin might only be a problem in
winter. If you naturally belong to this skin type, you should pay extra
attention to the needs of your skin all year around. This does not always mean
that you have to invest a lot of money, here are my personal top tips on how to
take care of dry skin:
Use lukewarm water
Hot water dries out your skin, so
keep your water lukewarm. This might be an easy one to do in summer and a bit
trickier in winter, but even then, try to shower lukewarm. If you can’t stand it at all, try
to keep your hot water shower as short as possible and limit it to one per day. Remember to use lukewarm water
for washing your hands and your face also. Once you are used to the colder
temperature, its not that bad anymore, and your skin will thank you for it!
Use soap
substitutes
Soaps can be drying. Since I have switched from regular body and
face wash products to products that do not contain any traces of soap, my skin
has continually improved.I also realised that using these products I don’t
need to moisturize my skin that much as it feels less dry after I have a shower
or wash my face.
Use products that do not contain any perfume
It seems like the days when these products could only
be found in pharmacies are over! More and more perfume-free skin care
products are making their way into the shelves of your local supermarket. My favourite brand for perfume-free products is Cetaphil. I
use the skin cleanser and the moisturizer and I can highly recommend them! The products
might be a bit pricy, but, as mentioned before, you use them in a different
way. The products are very effective and you don’t have you use a lot of them.
I can particularly recommend the Cetaphil skin cleanser. I also use it to remove my make-up.
