Nearly There for Muscular Dystrophy
Starting in January 2013, locals Chris Mitchell and Allan Ure will run the length of New Zealand. They will start at Bluff and finish at Cape Reinga. The 2,000km run will take approximately 65 days at an average of 30 kilometers a day.
Aside from the personal goals, they will raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association of New Zealand and motivate others to run. They are looking for corporate sponsors too!

We would like to call for volunteers to help in our Lake Taupo Hospice Shop. We are requiring volunteers for working in the shop (morning or afternoon) over the six days of the shop opening. The shop will be open Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm.

The Taupo Citizens Advice Bureau advises that they are open for everyone from 9am - 3pm Monday to Friday and are situated in Waiora House, opposite Taupo Nui-A-Tia College at 129 Spa Road. They have a free information service that offers support, advice and, in some cases, advocacy. The service is impartial and non-judgemental and confidentiality is guaranteed. No problem is too big or too small. They have information to help people of any age, young or old. They are there for everyone and welcome people from all ethnic communities. They have information on issues that affect and interest those communities. They have free legal advice on Tuesdays and Thursdays and a Justice of the Peace is available to witness signatures, etc. Please ring 378 4253 for an appointment. They also have a wide range of pamphlets on all subjects. These are freely available and are updated frequently.

RIDING FOR THE DISABLED
Riding For The Disabled has moved to their new premises now at 164 Poihipi Road. They have approx 60 volunters and the same amount of riders.
They operate 3 mornings per week, Monday, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 till noon. New volunters can phone Riding For The Disabled to find out more about helping as new volunters are always welcome. RDA is a fun caring environment. No prior knowledge is required.
