Jackson Daniel West has had an uphill battle since his first breath.
Born covered with bluish/purple spots, it was obvious Jackson was different. Jackson was diagnosed as a "Blueberry muffin" baby and was sent to Starship Children's Hospital.
At just 10 days old, and after further tests, it was confirmed Jackson had Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.
Jackson had gone through intense chemotherapy, spontaneous remission, relapse, more chemotherapy, remission, more chemotherapy, relapse, chemotherapy, bone marrow transplant and then a final relapse.
Jackson was given 48hrs and proved doctors wrong by continuing to fight 13 days before passing away in his mother’s arms on wed 28 dec 2011, aged 21 months
