‘The Descendants’ - Why You Can't Afford To Miss This Movie

More FM's Dane Anderson reviews'The Descendants'. George Clooney is just one of the reasons why you can't afford to miss this movie.

The Descendants
‘The Descendants’ is the new dramatic comedy from director Alexander Payne, who brought us the films ‘Sideways’, ‘About Schmidt’, and ‘Election’.

Set in Hawaii it stars George Clooney as Matt King, a father of two girls who has to re-evaluate his life after a sudden accident leaves his wife and the mother of his children in a coma.

Matt King has been somewhat absent from his families lives of late, busy dealing with his extended families decision to sell the family land that was handed down to them from Hawaiian royalty.

His wife seeks extreme sports for excitement, his eldest daughter attends boarding school, and his youngest is too young to understand. That’s until his wife has a sudden boating accident off Waikiki which puts her in a coma.

Matt must now deal with the fact his wife could die, how to handle his children, and deal with his extended families sale of prime Hawaiian land.

As with many Alexander Payne films, ‘The Descendants’ is a heartfelt character driven film which takes you on a sometimes humorous and sometimes tragic journey through life’s ups and downs.

There is much to love with ‘The Descendants’ most of all George Clooney’s performance of dealing with his characters re-examination of his past and his dealings with the future, while he is supported well by Shailene Woodley as his eldest daughter Alexander.

The Descendants is an endearing and engrossing film which is one of the year’s best.
