Wanting
to look good is one thing, harming your health to do so is definitely not a
good idea! But who doesn’t make these 3 mistakes that can cause long-term harm
in the name of style?
1 Wearing Bags that Break Your Back
I have to say I’m majorly guilty of doing this, wearing a handbag that is as
heavy as some people's weekly grocery shopping bag.
But well, it turns out I’m not the only one.
The average
handbag weighs 3.6kg, and 75 per cent of women always carry it on the same
side.
To stop your handbag from harming your health, have
regular clear-outs – do you really need all these things in your bag anyway?
Also try to wear a bag that you can wear diagonally across
your body, or swap sides regularly.
2 Wearing Heels That Cripple Your Feet
Okay, it might be
challenging to resist a pair of gorgeous shoes, but do you really want to
sacrifice the health of your feet and legs for them? Poor shoes can not only lead to sprained ankles, shin splints and knee and
lower back pain, but heels higher than 7.5cm shorten the Achilles tendon.
And while not wearing heels at all might not be an option for you, try to
wear shoes with a smaller heel or no heel as often as you can. Also with flatter heels, make sure that your feet have enough support. Even ballerinas harm your feet if they are of poor quality.
Relax your feet and give them a rest by walking around barefoot on the beach
or in your garden. Your feet will thank you for it!
3 Wearing Uncomfortable Bras That Bite You
I personally dislike
shopping for bras. Why? Because it seems like I’m a different cup size in every
shop (can someone in the fashion industry introduce some regulations for size consistency
among brands here please?).
So while it might
take a bit of time to find the right bra that fits you perfectly, this is very
important.
The wrong bra can lead to neck, shoulder and back pain, headaches and even nerve
damage!
It is important to have a professional fitting. Make sure your
bra is of good quality and that it offers
you enough support.
