Nelson Locals are invited to come and see the Brook Sanctuary from a different angle. This will be a fantastic way to see bits of the Brook Sanctuary, which are off limits to the public, and get involved! You will get to meet staff and volunteers and learn how the fence works and experience the amazing terrain and bush.
After a guided walk along a section of our brand-new pest proof fence we will gather for a cup of tea in the bush and learn about the vital work our volunteers carry out to maintain and check our fence.
You will need to have a good level of fitness and be up for a gentle walk on some of our tricky terrain. Wear sturdy boots or shoes and bring some water and a rain coat (just in case).
Our volunteer fence checkers normally walk on a Tuesday and over the weekend, with flexible times and start points. No commitment or experience necessary.
If you are interested in volunteering with us, or even if you just want to see what is going on up at the Brook, Come Along!
