More FM Queenstown, Wanaka and Central Otago is celebrating Coronet Peak’s 75 Years of Ski
The dog derby is an iconic event with a history on the mountain that goes back almost 50 years. It’s the chance to showcase your dog handling skills as you traverse the mountain in either the Country Dog, Townie Dog or Kids division! Event runs from 10.30 to 1pm. Register online or on the day on the mountain at Guest Services. This event is so popular so entering early is highly recommended!
Country Division: You and your best friend will head up Coronet Express gondola together. You will then need to walk down to the start line which will take 10 minutes. The race will start halfway down the M1 then you will run/slide down the mountain to the finish line. You'll have the extra challenge of sending your dog back up the hill around a gate before calling them back to you at the finish line.
Town/Kids Division: You and your best friend will head up Meadows Express together. You will walk down to the start line on the lower M1 where you will run/slide down towards the finish line.
