David Beckham sparked debate earlier on this year after posting a picture of him giving his daughter a kiss on the lips.
Some critics branded the pic as 'pretty weird' while many others came out in support of the star.
Child psychologist Dr Fiona Martin spoke out at the time giving her thoughts on the discussion. “It’s beautiful." She said. "Anything that promotes emotional connectivity is good. It’s certainly not inappropriate to kiss your child.”
But in a recent chat on Facebook Live, Beckham spoke out about the photo for the first time. He said that he is “very affectionate” with his kids because that is how he was brought up.
“I got actually criticised for kissing my daughter on the lips the other day. I kiss all my kids on the lips."
“Brooklyn, maybe not. Brooklyn’s 18, he might find that a little bit strange. But I’m very affectionate with the kids. It’s how I was brought up and Victoria, and it’s how we are with our children."
“We want to show our kids love and we protect them, look after them, and support them, and we’re very affectionate with them.”
It's not the first time the Beckham's have drawn criticism like this, last year Victoria was in the spotlight for posting a similar pic to David's.
