One of last season's more successful Married at First Sight's brides say the romance wasn't actually what it seems...
Married at First Sight Australia's Sharon Marsh, who was matched with Nick Furphy in Season 4, has opened up about her not-so-successful "marriage" on the reality TV show.
While they maintained an eight-month relationship post-series before they broke up in July, in a recent OK! Magazine interview, Sharon reveals that she never really loved her TV husband.
She explained that she started subconsciously sabotaged her relationship by making excuses when she moved from Perth to Melbourne to be with him.
"I made excuses [as to] why I couldn't move over to Melbourne straight away," she said.
"My business, I needed to rent out my house, I'd miss my family and friends, my dog... bulls***!"
"I realise if you are truly in love with someone and want to commit to them, you will make it happen."
Talking about the recent breakup, she said they remained friends but they’re “not in love with each other”.
"I love Nick, but after moving to Melbourne eight weeks ago to be with him, I soon realised that I’m not in love with him… I’ve shed many tears over this, because I really wanted it to work. I wanted the butterflies and roses – but I also needed a deeper love," she said in her post-break up interview with New Idea.
Nick told New Idea he was initially heartbroken by her decision.
"I started to shake and couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I fell hard and fast and gave it my all. It has made me lose my faith in love a little bit."
