Local boys Six60 are getting ready for a world tour, and they're teaming up with a a big international act for the ride.

The local band are teaming up with Norwegian duo Nico & Vinz for 'The New Waves World Tour' - performing 25 shows in eight countries across Europe in October and November, before heading down under for four massive New Zealand gigs.

The boys will be performing in Christchurch, Wellington, Tauranga and Auckland in January.

SIX60 frontman Matiu Walters says that the band can't wait to get back on stage.

"This tour is really exciting because we'll be travelling across Europe supporting Nico & Vinz in their part of the world, before they come to New Zealand for the first time to support us on the New Zealand dates.

"We met Nico & Vinz when we were recording in their studio in LA and discovered that we've got a lot in common in what we believe about music and the way it affects and connects people, and how our music is influenced by our roots and genres like R&B."

Nico & Vinz are best known in NZ for their hits 'In Your Arms' and 'That's How You Know' and of course their number one single 'Am I Wrong'.

Also joining the tour is Kiwi hip hop musician and producer Kings, who burst on the scene last year with 'Don't Worry 'Bout It'.

Tickets for all shows go on sale at midday on Friday 18 August at Ticketek (Christchurch) and Ticketmaster (Wellington, Tauranga and Auckland).
