Kiwi celebrity chef Chelsea Winter has upset a few fans after teasing that she had something “arriving very very soon” as she clutched her stomach.
Tricking fans into thinking she was cradling an impending baby bump, thousands of fans congratulated her, assuming she was announcing her pregnancy.
"So... can you guess what's arriving very very soon?" Chelsea posted to her 362 thousand Facebook fans, before she then deleted the original photo to reveal her stunt was to publicise her upcoming cookbook.
“Okay - I confess that this time, it's my new book EAT that's coming very soon (tomorrow!). Some of you saw through the sneakiness! And for the rest of you, thank you for all your beautiful comments. I'm touched by all your kind words. Please save them up, because I hope one day in the not too distant future, you'll need them for real.”
While some fans were unimpressed with the deception and felt her fake pregnancy was bad taste, Chelsea reassured her fans she didn’t intend to hurt feelings.
“It was just a bit of fun - of course I didn’t mean to offend ;) I’m comfortable with it - so I hope you guys are too! I have always called my books my babies.”
