One of the most celebrated TV shows of all time is going to be added to with a feature-length prequel film.

David Chase, creator of The Sopranos, is readying The Many Saints of Newark, which will tell the story of the show's crime family in the 1960s.

In Newark, New Jersey at the time, African-Americans and Italians were often in conflict, with gangsters engaged in a deadly conflict.

According to Deadline, New Line Cinema has purchased Chase's screenplay. He will reportedly also produce the film and be involved selecting its director.

There's no information on which actors - if any - from the TV show will be in the film.
