Influencer Zoe Marshall has been photographed drinking her own placenta.
The wife of rugby league star Benji Marshall took to Instagram to say she was drinking her "fresh placenta" in a smoothie blend with banana and berries.
Mrs Marshall gave birth to Fox, the couple's first child, in March.
"Gotta have that fresh placenta," she said. "I also got Georgie to make me placenta capsules, a tincture and an essence to take postnatal."
Comments to the post were mixed with one user saying: "hmm I'll pass!"
Another said they loved the idea and wished it was something they could have done.
The woman in the picture, Sydney-based placenta specialist Georgie Jhett, assured everyone it was okay.
"Don't freak out everyone! There is a small piece of placenta in this large drink... the rest is organic banana, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries."
A number of celebrities and social media influencers have claimed drinking placenta helps with post-natal depression.
However, many experts have said there is little scientific evidence to back this up.
