Chrissy Teigen has hit out at Meghan Markle's father, labelling his comments in a recent interview "embarrassing".

It comes after Thomas Markle told the Daily Mail the Royal Family had cut him off and "perhaps it would be easier for Meghan if I died."

"This guy sucks. What is wrong with him?" Teigen, who is married to singer John Legend, tweeted, alongside screenshots of some of the quotes from the original article.

"Let your daughter be happy, please. This is embarrassing," the Sports Illustratedmodel continued.

Teigen has a habit of attracting attention for being outspoken online - most notably for calling out US President Donald Trump on Twitter, which resulted in him blocking her.

Her most recent comments focus on an interview in which Mr Markle said his daughter 'went cold' on him, after he claimed to The Sun earlier this month that she was "terrified" and wearing a "pained smile" every day.

"After I said a few critical words about the Royal Family changing Meghan, they cut me off," he told the Daily Mail. "Those numbers were disconnected, they no longer work. I have no way of contacting my daughter."

The 74-year-old denied allegations that he faked a heart attack to get out of attending the wedding, saying he had serious health problems. But he said his death "wouldn't be so bad", and suggested it might "be easier for Meghan if I died".

"Everybody would be filled with sympathy for her. But I hope we reconcile. I'd hate to die without speaking to Meghan again."

He said the Duchess of Sussex was "a mummy's girl now" and her mother Doria, who attended the Royal Wedding, was getting all of the credit for raising her.

"Meghan seems to have forgotten that she lived with me up until Doria and I divorced, when she was six, and even then I was still a big part of her life," he explained.

"She became the woman that she is today thanks to everything I did for her. And did I get any recognition for it? Any thanks? She doesn't even speak to me now. How cold is that?" he said.
