Singers Liam Payne and Cheryl Cole have announced the end of their relationship after two-and-a-half years together.
Liam, 24, and Cheryl, 35, told fans in a joint statement posted to Twitter that they will share custody over their son Bear.
"[We] are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It's been a tough decision for us to make," the two told fans.
"We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together."
A source close to the couple said the "mutual decision" occurred two weeks ago, with Liam "living elsewhere, but he still sees Bear all the time."
"They get on great and this was a decision they made taking into account what’s right for their son," the source told The Sun.
“But they are adamant they will be the best possible parents to Bear by both being in his life."
