The popular kids show Peppa Pig has caused a bit of controversy in the past, but parents are now praising the show for introducing their first character with a disability!

In a video posted on the show's Twitter account, the new character 'Mandy Mouse' is introduced to Peppa and others at playgroup...

Parents were quick to respond to the news - many praising the show...

"Oh this is so good. Well done! With love from a 29 year old wheelchair user who will now be watching Peppa Pig avidly." one person wrote.

Another replied by saying "yes disability finally represented on my sons favourite program well done he will be thrilled at the newest addition."

One mother even seemed to get a bit emotional at the news."I could cry! My daughter loves Peppa and has a neuromuscular disorder. This is a game changer. Thank you!"

It's not yet known if Mandy will be a permanant character or if she'll just visit from time to time - but parents and kids alike seem to like her regardless.
