Central Pulse win Porirua's Te Rauparaha Arena for ANZ Premiership grand final

Central Pulse will host the ANZ Premiership Grand Final at Porirua's Te Rauparaha Arena on June 3.

The Wellington-based netball franchise clinched its spot in the title game on Monday, with a comprehensive 68-42 win over Northern Stars in their penultimate outing of the regular season.

But Netball New Zealand has had to delay the final a day to accommodate the Pulse, who had no suitable home venues available on the scheduled date of June 2.

"We're really delighted that Netball New Zealand and Sky Sport have allowed Netball Central and the Pulse to have a home Grand Final," says Central Zone chief executive Fran Scholey.

"It's fitting, given the performance of the team, and it's our way to be able to reward our loyal supporters and sponsors. We look forward to seeing a sell-out yellow crowd in Porirua.

Last year, the Pulse were in a similar position, when they were obliged to transfer their home final to Palmerston North, with Te Rauparaha Arena and Queen's Wharf Event Centre booked out.

After topping the table, they were ambushed in the final 53-49 by Southern Steel.

"The Pulse have known for some time that venues within their zone would be a problem on the originally scheduled date, so we have been working closely with the Pulse and other teams to ensure the best outcome for the league," says NNZ head of events Kate Agnew.

Defending champions Southern Steel will play-off against the Stars on May 29 to determine who will face the Pulse in the final.
