Married At First Sight Australia groom whose reality TV marriage didn't work out has announced he's applied to join the cast of the New Zealand version of the show.

Nasser Sultan, who appeared on the Aussie show's 2017 season, told Now To Love he put himself forward to be a part of the cast of New Zealand's second season, coming to Three later this year.

"I do love the Kiwi girls, and I love the country, the culture... The haka is one of my all-time favourite things," he said in an interview.

Three is currently taking applications for anyone looking for love and keen leave the matchmaking to the show's experts, meeting their spouse for the first time at the altar on the big day.

Sultan was matched with Gabrielle Bartlett for a short stint on the show that saw the pair break up before the experiment had ended.

The 52-year-old, who went on to criticise the reality show for being fake, scripted and dysfunctional, says he thinks the Kiwi version is more authentic.

"The New Zealand show is more in its virgin stage, so I think it's more genuine. I've watched a bit of it and people seem to go on it genuinely looking for love," he said.

The singles set to get hitched on national television later this year will be announced closer to the show's premiere.
