Nicole Kidman expresses her love for carrying cats in purses
Nicole Kidman is the latest person to express a penchant for carrying cats in purses.
The Academy Award-winning actress frequently features her felines on her Instagram page for 4.4 million followers to enjoy. Ginger and Snow, Kidman's two cats, were also her dates for last year's Telluride Film festival.
In a recent interview with You magazine, the 51-year-old said: "I really am a cat person.
"I've just got one of those carriers... a cat carrier that's a backpack and it has a window that they can peek out of and it's got air and everything, they love it."
The Big Little Lies star admitted that she loves to hike with her unconventional walking partners.
"It is really cute. They [her cats] hop in. They can't wait to get in," she said.
Her admission follows the cat-carrying culprit photographed on Mount Maunganui last week, which received a lukewarm reception from some animal advocates. Cat-packs have since raised questions over safety and comfort.
Lynne O'Malley from Cats & Canines Behaviour Solutions previously told Newshub that pet parents should "think twice" before partaking in cat-carrying antics.
"It could be quite stressful for them," O'Malley said. "Cats can become stressed by environmental change.
"Even taking cats in a carrier to the vet can be quite traumatic for them."
Kidman's claim that she will "eat anything... I used to eat ants... grubs, worms and insects" could also ruffle a few feathers.
The self-confessed animal lover told the magazine that she and husband Keith Urban keep alpacas on their Australian farm, as well as chickens and "ten fish".
