Gamers all over the world are up in arms after the popular video game Fortnite went offline.

Just over a day ago, the game suddenly turned into a blackhole and became un-playable. Whenever players load the game they simply see the blackhole instead of the game.

Some mums have vented their frustration after the game being down left their kids 'heartbroken'.

While Fortnite is free to play, players can purchases extras and upgrades using real money.

"My son is heartbroken, he’s spent a massive $6,000 NZD on this game since he started playing..." the mum told The Mirror.

“What are *the game creators* going to do? People saying the game has ended for good, so do we get full refunds on the money we spent because no game means no nothing so we lose out!"

Another mum empathised and had had a similar experience with her own son.

"My 10 year old saves *to buy upgrades* so today very excited, then to be horrified, crying his heart out, lost his money... It’s the end of the world for him as he knows it."

No one knows when the game will go back online, so we'll have to wait and see!
