Sadly, Marie Fredriksson, one half of the Swedish pop-rock group Roxette has passed away.
The news was announced by the singer's family in a statement to a Swedish newspaper. "It is with great sadness that we have to announce that one of our biggest and most beloved artists is gone." they said.
Fellow member of the band, Per Gessle, made his own statement on Twitter.
"Time goes by so quickly. It’s not that long ago we spent days+nights in my tiny apartment sharing impossible dreams. And what a dream we eventually got to share!" he wrote.
"I’m honoured to have met your talent+generosity. All my love goes to you+your family. Things will never be the same."
Back in 2002, Fredriksson suffered a seizure which left her with a cracked skull. She was then diagnosed with a brain tumour and given a 25% chance of survival. Due to her treatment she had major health issues which in the end, forced her to retire from performing in 2016.
She will be sadly missed!
