Kenny Rogers, the American singer behind 'The Gambler', sadly passed away over the weekend aged 81.
He was under the care of hospice at the time, according to a statement posted to his Twitter account. He was surrounded by his family at the time.
"His songs have endeared music lovers and touched the lives of millions around the world," the statement said.
"Chart-topping hits like 'The Gambler', 'Lady', 'Islands In The Stream', 'Lucille', 'She Believes In Me', and 'Through the Years' are just a handful of Kenny Rogers' songs that have inspired generations of artists and fans alike."
His close personal friend and collaborator in music, Dolly Parton, took to social media to share a tearful tribute to her friend.
"You never know how much you love somebody until they’re gone." she wrote alongside a video message.
"I’ve had so many wonderful years and wonderful times with my friend Kenny, but above all the music and the success I loved him as a wonderful man and a true friend. So you be safe with God and just know that I will always love you, Dolly."
We're thinking of Kenny and his family at this tough time!
