The Block NZ disqualifies teams caught breaking competition rules

Here's trouble...
16 August 2021 11:32PM

It's been a messy week on The Block NZ after two teams were disqualified from the $7,000 cash prize in Do-Over Week.

Blue Team's Tim and Arty were thought to have the win in the bag with a 21.5 point increase redoing their poorly 6.5 rated entrance and powder room.

But host Mark Richardson brought to light some damning video evidence featuring Arty vacuuming his kitchen at 10.17am Saturday morning - 17 minutes after the final 'Tools Down' for the week was called.

Following that, it was also revealed they had attempted to remove masking tape from their entrance skylight 6 minutes after Tools Down, and tried to hide the deed from cameras - only to be caught by the microphones.

The evidence saw a heartbreaking disqualification of the boys team, leaving Tim to say 'That's bulls***' while Arty put his head in his hands.

However, there were more bombshells to drop as Mark also revealed Purple Team's Rach was found to have her Block budget card declined purchasing decorations. And instead of borrowing money, she picked up the tab from her own pocket.

As Block rules prevent contestants from using money outside their allocated budgets, Rach's mistake resulted in Team Purple disqualifications, handing their chance to win over to Meg & Dan.

With only a few more weeks till the September 5th auction night, will Team Blue or Team Purple make back those wins?
