Christchurch's Alannah Prins, better known as PRINS, is back with her latest song 'That's the thing x'.

A moody and melancholic reflection on relationships, PRINS expands on her tried-and-trusted formula, offering a more mature sound that departs from her repertoire of up-tempo dance bangers.

'That's the thing x' switches up PRINS' signature style in favour of a slower-paced, introspective offering that explores the themes of trust, vulnerability and self-doubt.

Where do you call home?

Technically Christchurch but I move between there and Auckland regularly.

What inspired your song 'That's The Thing x’?

I actually had a bit of an argument with somebody the night before heading into the session with Marlon (Six60). Since the emotions were fresh I was feeling in a somewhat self- reflective state and wanted to use the inspiration to unpack what was going on in my head.

The song is really about self-sabotage and it was a good time for me to really unpack what was going on at the time.

What's your proudest musical moment?

Oh gosh. There’s so many!! Playing Bay Dreams/Electric Ave were biggies for me. Getting on ‘Salt’ editorial Spotify playlist with so many of my favourites artists overseas in the last month, MTV playlisting for the first time…it’s been a whirlwind of exciting milestones recently!

What Kiwi song are you loving at the moment?

‘Find Me’ - Muroki is super funky.

What's one artist you would love to collaborate with?

Tove Lo or Troye Sivan.

Where can we find you on social media?

On Instagram / TikTok (@prinsmusicofficial) or Facebook / YouTube (@PRINS Music)

Let's play a quick game of this or that...

Sleeping with the bedroom door closed or open? Closed but only as of recently.
