Ryan Seacrest has made the ultimate interview gaffe on live television, while filming his show Live with Kelly and Ryan.
The former American Idol host was interviewing actor Jeffrey Tambor, known for his roles in television shows Arrested Development and Transparent.
But poor Seacrest got him confused with actor Vincent Schiavelli, who appeared in Fast Times at Ridgemont High and X Files, and who happened to die in 2005.
"To me, you're the scary guy in the subway in Ghost," Seacrest told his guest.
"Oh this is horrible ... you're gonna be embarrassed. That's not me," Tambor replied.
Luckily Tambor joked about the incident: "[Even] my WIFE thought I was Vincent Schiavelli ... and we married," he quipped.
As the pair laughed over the mistake, Tambor couldn't resist ribbing Seacrest a little further.
"He's dead," he announced. "We tried to book Vincent Schiavelli, he's passed away and here I am. What is wrong with you? I came on to sell a book, not to be insulted! I am hurt. My reps are here and we are filing an action suit. I came on in good faith!
"Let me ask you, did you think you were booking Vincent Schiavelli?"
