A 5 year old girl has been fined £150 (around $250 NZD) for selling homemade lemonade to pedestrians on her street. The fine was issued after officials claimed she didn't have the appropriate consents to operate her business.
“It was my daughter’s suggestion and after 30 minutes labouring over the blender, we had four jugs of lemonade,” her dad said.
“My daughter drew a sign with some beautiful bright yellow lemons on it. I added the prices: 50p for a small cup; £1 for a large one. After cleaning off an old table, we packed up our things and walked to the end of the street.”
After just 30 minutes, she was approached by the officials who immediately dished out the heafty fine worth $250 NZD.
“My daughter burst into tears, repeating again and again ‘Have I done a bad thing? We packed up and made the short walk home. My daughter sobbed all the way.”
The reaction online has been largely positive, with most people showing support to the young entrepreneur. Do you think the fine was fair?
