For many people, the morning coffee is a daily ritual. There's some good news for those people, a recent study from Hospital de Navarra in Spain believes to have found a link between the amount of coffee drunk and longevity of life!
The study (which looked at 20,000 middle aged people), found that those who drank 4 coffees a day had mortality rates almost two thirds lower than those who didn’t.
One of the lead researchers said “I would advise drink plenty of coffee, it could be good for your heart. I think it's a good idea to have about four cups a day."
There has been other research done backing up this claim, but the British Heart Foundation does warn against excessive coffee consumption.
“The best way to minimise your risk of cardiovascular disease and premature death is to concentrate on an overall healthy lifestyle - eat a balanced diet, stay active and don’t smoke - rather than lining up the lattes.” the foundation says.
So while this research does point to an extended life for coffee addicts, it might still be a good idea to take it all in moderation.
