Not everyone loves the fear and thrill of a scary movie. But the more fearful you are of those frightening moments, the more weight you could be losing!
Researchers from the University of Westminster have found that a 90-minute horror film can burn as much as 113 calories. That's equal to doing a 30-minute walk.
Of course, if a movie makes your heart race more, the more calories you burned. The researchers tested ten different films, and found that when your pulse quickens and pumps your blood around your body faster, your adrenaline kicks in.
"It is this release of fast-acting adrenaline, produced during short bursts of intense stress (or in this case, brought on by fear), which is known to lower the appetite, increase the basal metabolic rate and ultimately burn a higher level of calories," says researcher Dr Richard Mackenzie.
The Shining came in at number one in terms of the best for burning off calories, with 184.
