We've all been there. You pick up the kids from school, and before you even step one foot inside the door... "Muuuuuuuuum, I'm hungry."
The dream of sitting everyone down together to bond and eat healthily seems like a distant one, and the kids always seem to have different ideas.
But one mum has come to the rescue, coming up with the 'perfect solution' to make dinner a more enjoyable experience - changing the time.
Writing for the parenting website Scary Mommy, Wendy Wisner has shared her secret.
Her children were always really hungry when they got home from school, and there were always arguments and tantrums about snacks.
One afternoon I had this lightbulb moment - What if I just start feeding them dinner at 3pm or 4pm when they're clearly the hungriest?
Now her kids tuck into a big meal in the afternoon and they have healthy snacks if they get hungry again later on.
And after a few months it's fair to say it's going well and Wendy says the kids are more than happy to eat earlier.
Lets be real, if you're a stay at home mum or only work part-time this sounds more than ideal, but for the rest of us the reality is a little different.
We totally get it, arriving home after a full day may be super tiring, but for many, this would be the only chance they get to have some qaulity downtime with your little ones - and making that sacrifice is a no brainer.
Either way, as long as you're always making a conscience decision to do the best you can, you're doing it right. Keep it up!
