Air NZ making flying with kids easier with new family friendly seats

Air New Zealand is giving more options to travelling families with the recent announcement of some adaptions to their Economy Skycouch feature.

A new feature set to be in place by mid 2018 will allow kids to lay by their parents for the duration of the flight.

The Skycouch Cuddle Belt (3 economy seats laid out flat), used to only allow two adults or an adult and child to lie down side by side has been updated to allow two children to use it at the same time. An additional seatbelt has been added for safety.

"The Skycouch has proven to be a real game changer in the Economy cabin. While we initially marketed it to couples, we quickly found the product suited parents with young families especially well." Anita Hawthorne from Air New Zealand said.

"Parents can relax while their children are able to have their own space and flat area to play without interrupting other passengers."

"Through this process, we've spoken to many customers who have travelled on the Skycouch and their feedback has helped to inform the updates and refinements we’re introducing this year."

The new feature will also be available on international flights, which has been met with praise from parents around the world.
