Your partner might drive you up the wall some days, but a recent study has shown that simply being married can help you live longer!
"The benefits of marriage on health and mortality have been demonstrated for both sexes, in different ethnic groups and appear to be independent of various sociodemographic characteristics." the study said.
A study from Heart BMJ found that being married reduced the risks of heart disease/complications and strokes. For people who weren't married, the risk of these kinds of health problems increased by as much as 40% in some cases.
The study looked at married couples from all across the globe, but did not take into account the quality of or challenges of the marriage.
So next time you say 'I love you' to your spouse, it might pay to slide in a 'thanks for keeping me healthy' too!
