Parents consider changing child's name after realising what she's named after

These parents are seeking advice after realising their child shares a name with a new piece of technology. They're considering changing the child's name but want the opinion of others first.

"I'm looking for peoples opinions and thoughts on what is a VERY tricky subject.

"We had our first child and named her Alexa, this was just before Amazon decided to release their pointless gadget which it now seems is taking over the world."

"Anyway, our little girl is now approaching 16 months old and is aware of her name and talks extremely fluently, and more times than not when you're asked what her name is by someone new they make reference to having one at home, or say something similar which is annoying and frustrating."

"Life growing up and at school can be hard enough, so we're reluctantly considering changing her name to save her years of bullying / teasing etc."

"We've thought of changing it to Alex which would be easier, but we may go for a complete change to something different as we're not keen on Alex."

"Of course we will ultimately make this decision ourselves but I'm the kind of person that likes to gauge peoples opinion to help me make up my mind."

"We love the name Alexa but are really worried she will hate it and need to think of her, not us."

People were quick to reply with their comments, most of them warned against the idea of changing the child's name...

"I'm sorry, but changing her name would be completely ridiculous. So you get a few comments, about the gadget, it's not as if you named your child after it." wrote one person.

"I wouldn't change it. I really don't want to sound rude but I think you may be overreacting a bit. It's her name, I'd keep it." added another.

Do you think they should change the child's name or not?
