A bride has shared the story of what happened when she caught her future mother in law trying on her wedding dress.

The bride opened up about her relationship with her fiance's mother in a post on Reddit.

"I always knew that she wasn't really my biggest fan." she began.

"She's polite and very 'fake' friendly... But she'll do things like sit on my fiance's lap, or tuck his hair behind his ear, and cut his food for him. On occasion I actually saw her actually feed him... In public. However, to my fiance's credit, once I told him that I thought that was beyond weird, it never happened again."

So knowing all of that this next part of the story might not surprise you!

The mother in law was visiting one afternoon and was just hanging about the house while the couple were busy putting a flat-pack kit together.

"I went to go take a bathroom break, headed into the master bedroom and what do I find - my future mother in law struggling to yank my dress over her head, BUT ITWAS FREAKING STUCK.

"I blurted out 'What the hell?!' and she immediately started stammering "Oh my God! OH MY GOD! OH GOD!"

The woman tried to help her future mother in law get out of the dress, but in doing so completely destroyed it.

"She hasn't offered to pay for any of the repairs to the dress. A section of the train is ripped. I have no idea how much it's going to cost until I can get to the seamstress..."

"In the meantime, in lieu of an apology, she's lecturing me on spending so much money on a wedding dress!"

The bride then asked for advice for how to deal with the situation.

"I would personally tell her that either she pays for the repairs, or she is uninvited." one person said.

"You need to present her with the entire repair bill and insist that she pays it in full. What the heck was she thinking? I would also never allow her in your house again!" added another.

Regardless of how this ends up panning out, we can't help but think that this is going to be one awkward wedding...
