A mum has shared how she managed to create an epic plane cake for her sons birthday - and it only cost her $70!

"So it’s not technically a hack cause it did take me 1.5 days! But being quotes $350 (usually $490), I thought I’d give it a go. He’s turning 4 not getting married!" the woman told Yahoo Lifestyle.

She decided to let her son choose what kind of cake he wanted. "He picked a 3D cake! Julian (her son) kept reminding me all week about his Qantas cake so I couldn’t stuff it up!"

Luckily, she managed to create an absolute masterpiece and live up to her son's expectations.

"I already had the tools such as the turntable and letters to cut out wording. The cost includes the cake slabs, ganache, fondant, cake board and silver paint."

When she was asked how he reacted to the cake she said "he was honestly over the moon!"

While it may take a bit of work to create, the finished product and the fact she saved around $300 make it all worth it!
