A lady was scrolling through Facebook when she stumbled across a local animal shelter posted a photo of an 11 year old pomeranian-poodle cross they had up for adoption.
Nicole thought that the dog reminded her of her childhood dog, Chloe, who she was forced to give up as a child – and decided to give the old dog a home “on a whim”.
“When I found out they were both called Chloe it was really strange." she told the BBC.
“It just clicked when she was introduced to me as Chloe.”
She then continued to explain, “When she was dropped off she came running up to me and was licking my face. Then I knew in my heart that she had to be the same dog.”
While Nicole was convinced that it was her old childhood dog, her husband wasn't so sure. He thought she was crazy and made her go and check the microchip. The microchip revealed that it was her old pup.
Nicole also explained the sad story of why she had to give up her childhood best friend.
“I was 10 years old and all I wanted was a puppy. She was wearing a pink bow when Nana gave her to me. We were best friends. My dad got a new job working from home but Chloe was too yappy and he had to be on the phone all the time. I remember my dad picked me up from school when I was 14 with the dog in the back seat. I knew we had to give her away.”
But Chloe didn't spend her life in a shelter after Nicole's family gave the little pup away, instead she went to an elderly couple. And the only reason she ended up in a shelter was because they both sadly passed away and there was nowhere else to go.
But luckily, fate stepped in.
Nicole was over the moon to be reunited with Chloe, and is even more stoked at the fact that Chloe gets on so well with her newborn daughter.
