Great news ladies! A recent study from the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism has found that women need more sleep than men to live longer.
The research suggests that when women have more time in bed they lower their risk of health issues. On the flip side, when men spend more time in bed their risk of health issues rises!
"In a group of nearly 800 healthy people, we observed sex-specific relationships between sleep duration and glucose metabolism." the study said.
"In men, sleeping too much or too little was related to less responsiveness of the cells in the body to insulin, reducing glucose uptake and thus increasing the risk of developing diabetes in the future."
"In women, no such association was observed. This research shows how important sleep is to a key aspect of health."
So next time you're arguing about who should get up first, this study might come in handy!
