Most of us love the idea of holidaying around the world for months on end. But a recent study suggests the amount of time we should actually holiday for to achieve maximum relaxation is much shorter.
The study from Springer Link says a break between 7 and 11 days is actually the perfect amount of time for a meaningful break. They say this amount of time allows you to switch off more easily and you tend to worry less about the impending to-do list.
"Vacations represent the longest period of temporary absence from work and may, therefore, constitute a more powerful respite opportunity than shorter rest intervals," the researchers said.
"Our results showed that health and wellness rapidly increase after the start of the holiday and seemed to peak on the eighth vacation day." Sounds like 8 days off might be the magic number then!
