Two & a half years after the Ghostbusters reboot that featured an all-female ensemble was released (and unfortunately failed at the box office), it has been revealed that a third Ghostbusters is coming.
This one however bears more connection to the original 80's film than the reboot did. According to Entertainment Weekly, Jason Reitman—the Oscar-nominated son of Ghostbusters original director Ivan Reitman, is working on another installment of the franchise. The film will be a direct continuation of the two 80s movies.
“I’ve always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan, when I was a six-year-old visiting the set. I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans,” Reitman told E.W. “This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the 80s happened in the 80s, and this is set in the present day.” He continued: “I’ve thought about this franchise and it has occupied a piece of my heart for basically as long as I can remember.”
