Here's some great news if you're getting a bit over the hot weather... Having an alcoholic drink might be a better way to extend your lifespan than exercise!
The researchers from the University of California made the discovery and even they were shocked by the results.
The study showed that those who drank 1 or 2 alcoholic drinks a day were almost 20% less likely to die prematurely. Those who exercised around 30-45 minutes each day only reduced their risk by around 11%.
"I have no explanation for it, but I do firmly believe that modest drinking improves longevity," one of the researchers said.
The same study also found that those who put on a little bit of weight as they aged were also more likely to live longer.
"It's not bad to be skinny when you're young but it's very bad to be skinny when you're old."
So as long as you can do these things in a healthy and moderated way, it might pay off!
