A teacher's experiment with her students has gone viral online.

In an effort to see how often her students were distracted by their phones, she got her students to write down on a large piece of paper everytime their phone went off - the results might shock but not surprise you...

"A teacher in the U.S. had her students turn their phones on loud, and every time they received a notification they went up and put a tally mark under the correct category." the post on Facebook reads.

"This was one class, one period. Every one of these tally marks is an interruption in a students education. Cell phones can be toxic to a learning environment."
