For many people, washing dishes is just a nasty chore that needs doing - but a recent study has found that washing dishes can help to reduce stress.
"We hypothesized that, relative to a control condition, participants receiving mindful dishwashing instruction would evidence greater state mindfulness, attentional awareness, and positive affect, as well as reduce negative affect and lead to overestimations of time spent dishwashing." the study said.
Basically what that means is that if you're mindful of the smells and other senses you're experiencing while washing - it could have great positive effects on your mental health.
Life Hack reports the researchers found that a person’s nervous feelings decreased by 27% while they were washing. On top of that, mental inspiration increased by around 25%.
