Child's backseat prank lands his mum in hot water with the police

Uh oh...

A child has landed her mum in hot water with the police after 'pranking' her while sitting in the back seat of the car.

The story has since gone viral online after the police in the US shared it on their Facebook page.

"At approximately 5:02 pm, our officers received a call of a vehicle traveling with a female juvenile in the back seat holding up a piece of paper asking for help." the post began.

The piece of paper read 'Help me, she's not my mum!' - which naturally would arrouse suspicion.

"The driver was contacted and it was determined that the juvenile had made it all up and thought it was a fun thing to do. The mother was unaware of what her daughter was doing and after it was determined that there was no foul play, the mother and daughter were allowed to leave the scene."

"This is a reminder that parents need to be aware of what their children are doing in the back seat at all times. #notfunny #beawareofyourkids #why?"

While the message from the police has hit home for many parents, others have said monitoring kids in the backseat while driving is quite a task - especially when trying to focus on the road!
