Being in lockdown means we’ve all had to make changes to our plans, but it doesn’t mean we have to cancel them entirely - we just have to get a little creative!
Mum Gemma Smith had planned to take the family to a farm for her daughter’s 3rd birthday, but wasn’t able to do so during the global pandemic, so instead she decided to make her own farm at home.
Using items she had around the house, Gemma made an entire petting zoo at her home, crafting pigs, chickens and some enclosures from balloons, bubble wrap, cardboard, an old feather boa and some polystyrene balls. And the result was pretty impressive.
Posting in the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, Gemma said: “So we were going to the farm for my daughter’s 3rd birthday (obvs cancelled ) so we decided to bring the farm to our house,”
“I know it’s not brilliant (I had a lot of ‘help’ from my toddler) and I only had the stuff available in my house but she loved making it and she has been looking after them.”
To add to the magic, Gemma left some chocolate eggs in the pen with the chickens the next morning to make it look like they had laid them for her. How cute!
“She has had the best birthday ever thanks everyone,” said Gemma.
