Sweet and savoury, genius or scary?
A chef on TikTok has joined the list of polarising Hot Cross Bun recipes with her own bizarre creation - the Hot Cross Lamb Burger.
Poppy O'Toole, known as Poppycooks on TikTok turned a regular hot cross bakery treat into a burger bun, filled with mint sauce, shredded lamb and roasted potatoes in the centre.
The trick is to also cut a hot cross bun in two, then toast the inside of the bread, encouraging that sweet/savoury flavour.
She said: "For me, I could have hot cross buns for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and this is perfect for that Easter BBQ we're all going to have."
The comments have ranged from '"Omg amazing - have to try this next weekend!!!!" to a more hesitant "I'm a little terrified, but maybe I'll try it."
We're not sure if we'd make it ourselves, but as Joey Tribbiani from Friends would say about a sweet/savoury combo: "I mean, what's not to like? Custard, good. Jam, good. Meat, good!"
