Actor Sarah Michelle Gellar has posted an interesting theory about the classic movie Grease to her Facebook page, which has sent the internet into a frenzy!
"Wait this has blown my mind- has anyone heard this theory about the movie #Grease...
At the end of the movie, Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson fly off in a red convertible as they wave goodbye to their friends on the solid ground below,
leading to the conclusion that the flying car was the final result of Sandy’s fantasy (As in she is dead).
During the song “Summer Nights,” Danny and Sandy recount how they first met and started a summer fling. The line, “I saved her life, she nearly
drowned,” suggests that Sandy actually did drown and the whole movie is an elaborate musical fantasy due to the lack of oxygen getting to her brain.
The flying red convertible also suggests that Sandy is happily being whisked away to heaven at the end of the movie. Wait what?!?!"
Fans are split over the theory...
One fan disagreed writing "Fascinating, but Danny is the one who claims Sandy nearly drowned. In Sandy's telling, it was just, "he showed off, splashing around." The song highlights all the different ways each saw their romance. Of course, if Sandy was in denial about drowning in her pre-death fantasy, she 'would' say that."
While others supported the theory. "It means that when she starts to smoke and giving in to peer pressure at the finale, she is basically 'letting go' and
accepting her fate and able to ascend to her 'own heaven' with Danny " one fan wrote.
Do you believe the theory or not?
