Kate McKinnon opened the latest Saturday Night Live with a stirring performance of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah', in character as Hillary Clinton.
The tribute was part to honour the late musical icon while also giving a nod to the results of the latest presidential election which saw Donald Trump
become president elect.
It was an emotional cold open for Saturday Night Live, a departure from the show's usual comical take on politics.
"I'm not giving up, and neither should you," McKinnon said straight into the camera at the end of her song.
Cohen, a Canadian musical legend, died Friday (NZ time), two days after Trump was elected president.
