Jimmy Kimmel pokes fun at Matt Damon, Trump and #OscarsSoWhite controversy in opening monologue

The 89th Academy Awards are underway in Los Angeles, California, marking the biggest night of the year for film.
In his opening monologue, host Jimmy Kimmel poked fun at Matt Damon, Mel Gibson, President Trump and the #OscarsSoWhite controversy.
"I want to say thank you to President Trump. I mean, remember last year when it seemed like the Oscars were racist?" said Kimmel.
"That's gone, thanks to him. It has been an amazing year for movies - black people saved NASA and white people saved jazz. That's what we call progress."
