Wentworth Miller, known for starring in the mid-2000s TV show, Prison Break, has hit back against becoming an internet meme.
The actor, who played character Michael Scofield for 4 years, posted on social media a meme that features him in his Prison Break days next to a photo of him 5 years later weighing more than he used to be.
Above the two images of him was the caption 'When you break out of prison and find out about McDonald's monopoly'.
Wentworth Miller wrote on his Facebook page about the hurt and frustration he felt - as the photo reflected a time while he was at his lowest struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts.
"One day, out for a hike in Los Angeles with a friend, we crossed paths with a film crew shooting a reality show. Unbeknownst to me, paparazzi were circling. They took my picture, and the photos were published alongside images of me from another time in my career. "Hunk To Chunk." "Fit To Flab.""
The actor pointed out he's persevered through his struggles with his mental health despite the reminder the photo gave him.
"The first time I saw this meme pop up in my social media feed, I have to admit, it hurt to breathe. But as with everything in life, I get to assign meaning. And the meaning I assign to this/my image is Strength. Healing. Forgiveness."
