Tinder who? New study reveals the unexpected places people are finding dates outside ‘the apps'

Not sure how we feel about this one!

Swiping left and right on dating apps might be a thing of the past because, apparently, LinkedIn is the place to meet your next potential date.

A new DatingNews survey reveals that loads of people in the US are securing dates in totally unexpected ways, including on the business networking platform.

But wait, LinkedIn? Isn't that where job hunters and professionals network? Turns out, business and pleasure can do a bit of mixing and mingling too.

It reveals that 52% of men, 51% of women, and 52% of gender-neutral peeps surveyed have organised a date this way.

While LinkedIn is usually used to make connections in the world of business, 61% of people surveyed aged 35 to 40 have found a date through LinkedIn, beating out the likes of boring old work events where only 33% secured a date.

Of course, DatingNews suggests keeping it classy when you're suggesting a one-on-one on LinkedIn - no one likes an unsolicited flirt. But if you're hitting it off with someone during a business chat - and know they're single -  why not suggest a coffee date?

The survey also includes other unexpected places that have proven to spark some romance.  From the language-learning app Duolingo (24% success rate) to even the gym (31% success rate), love seems to be in the air everywhere.

While most of us will probably stick to our usual go-to apps like Tinder, Bumble and Hinge, it’s interesting to know that there might just be a possible connection lying within your LinkedIn network.
