Cohen Chase: Motocross

Patetonga Valley Champs

2 days of racing for Cohen – who turned 15yrs last week has moved up a class and racing two classes now – in the 15-16yrs Junior 125cc

and 15- under 21yrs National 125cc class.

Cohen  rode his first national class on Sunday, after competing on Saturday with a successful 2nd place podium finish in each class.

Sundays racing was going to give us some indication as to competition in the north island (not the south island contenders as yet) for Cohen to compete come Feb ‘13 in a 4 round  series in the  Senior National 125cc  Class.

Wyatt competed Saturday in the 13-16yrs  85cc class – doing what Wyatt does best  -  Coming in 3 from 3 wins – 1st .

Thanks everyone again for all your support and encouragement, and Merry Christmas to you and your families, our next meeting on the 29th December until then enjoy the sunshine..

Hi  All

Firstly a BIG thanks to all that Helped us out with getting to Australia

A mixed bag for us – Loads of obstacles – Huge learning and great experience !!!

First couple of days Rain Rain Rain – then to turn 30 – 35 degrees for the last 3 days –

Wyatt – had great qualifying times – up in the Top 5 – But when it came to the final races he – either was taken out – had bad starts or got caught in a pile up in the first corner -   Ending  14th overall -  out of 70 riders Australian wide.

Cohen – Also  not such good luck -  Not enough oil in the clutch on a new leased bike – we had to replace – taken out – and rode the last race on a flat tyre.   Looking at lap times and where he was positioned in some of his races should have been around 7th – ended on 11th Place overall out of 77 riders Australian wide.

Home safe which is a great thing, and more determined to train harder for next year in Horsham Victoria -

We have Extravaganza Taupo next weekend and a few other coming up – Auckland Champs – King of the Mountain and Waikato champs all before end of the year.

Thanks again everyone and report back again soon

Hi

Sick day @ Whakatane Moto X -   I rode in the Junior 125 A Grade and All in Junior Open – I won 5 from 6 races – I didn;t complete one race  due to getting completely covered in mud and had no tear offs left in my goggles – I had to take my goggles off to see,  and Dad has always said “never to race without goggles your eyes are too important” !!! so I had to pull off the track . Thanks Mad Mad for the photo’s

Thanks

Just a quick update

We had the New Zealand TT Minature Champs over the Weekend -  TT Champs stands for a Flat Track – which is a track that is marked out as fast flowing and open to race at high speeds with no obstacles or jumps just long fast! straights and wide open corners.

My class was 14 – under 17yrs and two bike brands – 125cc 2 stroke (which I race) and 250cc 4 stroke bikes – these are much  higher horse powered

not sure why they run the two classes together but they do so I was alittle under powered – but had a great weekend racing. Weather was fine on the Saturday but turned to wet / mud racing on the Sunday.

I came home in 4th place overall

We travelled down to Taranaki over the weekend for the Interschool Boys Motox -  THe weather was fresh, as we raced just below Mt Taranaki (Egmont) with its fresh dumping of snow.

I had a 2nd place in race one,  a 1st place in race two and 2nd place in the third race. 3 races altogether ending with a 2nd place podium finish.

I’m looking forward to this weekends racing in Taupo as we have what’s called the ‘Battle of the Clubs”  like what they call overseas – Club DesNations – where each club or country choses a rider from each grade (ie)  85cc 125cc 250cc 450cc and Vets from their designated club to race together for the overall  Club Champion.  Wyatt and I were both selection to represent TAUPO last year -  As wyatt is not back racing yet from injury – I have been chosen to race the 85cc class – although 3 other clubs from around the central north island had asked me to represent for there club.  I will ride with pride for Taupo.  Its going to be a great event.

Thanks again for your valued support

Hi All

Please see this link for a couple of pictures from  The New Zealand Junior Motocross Nationals that were held in Temuka a few ago -

I had bike technical problems in my 13-16yr 85cc class so I just concentrated on the 12-14yrs 125cc class and got 2nd NZ overall so I was pretty please with this result as I‘ve only been on this bike for 4mths.

I would like to thank all my sponsors for their valued and continued support as without sponsors I wouldn't be racing.

Thank you Team Taupo Scholarship – And all who make it possible! -  The gear I’m wearing is thanks to you all, my fitness to AC Baths and Jonty @ Pilates.

Just a quick update as to what I have been up to -

My Family and I travelled down to Temuka in the South Island – For - The South Canterbury Champs - last week the  10th & 11th March 2012 – where I raced both Saturday and Sunday on the track which is where this Years Junior Nationals are to be held in April.
Its what you would call a pre run to the nationals, where all but most riders competing from around New Zealand and Australia came to check out the track before the actual event.

I raced in the 13-16 years  85cc Moto class and gained a 3rd place podium
Also in the 12- 14 years   125cc (bigger Bike ) and gained a 2nd place podium

We camped down at the track in Temuka – where approximately 30 riders had a motocross training camp on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Unfortunately we were unable to ride the actual nationals track due to such bad – wet weather the track was not rider=- able, but we managed to rider elsewhere, train and gain more knowledge thanks to Anthony Sproull and Niki Ewrine -coaches.

Thanks again Team Taupo and everyone concerned  for your valued support.
